Now we get to the third miracle. Lazarus’ resurrection.
In order to address the third topic Spinoza, aware that a simple declaration of apparent death risks being predictable and trivial, chooses to refer statistically to historical documented cases. On which no doubt could exist, given the total lack on the part of the witnesses cited of a particular interest in favor of one or the other outcome.
Here, for the sake of brevity, we will report only a few of the cases examined by Lutor Spinoza. The first case dates back to Aesculapius (we are as grateful to Spinoza for mentioning it as we are to Aesculapius for describing it). It seems that for trying to cure this disease Aesculapius didn’t even demand the rooster which was due to him by tradition.
