The fact is, the next day the court physician examines the two cooks’ bodies and does not find any sign of plague. As cautionary measure, he orders the clothes and belongings of the two dead men to be burned. And he also orders that the dead men follow the same path. But on the second day the cooks, already stored in the wood shed, wake up at the same time, and together cry for help.
