The inquisitors, to start the investigation, asked the physicians two questions:
1)How could a hand sustain such high temperatures and not melt, as everything does at those temperatures?
2)Whose hand was it?
The answer was short and accurate, but at least it gave the commission of inquiry a 180- degree answer.
FIRST ANSWER:
It is not possible that a hand sustain such temperatures. We may assume that at the time of melting it was already outside the containment dams.
Counter-question: What is it doing? Is it floating, or is there something under it?
Counter-answer: We think it is floating.
Counter-question: How could a hand float at such high temperatures?
Counter-answer: We don’t know.
SECOND ANSWER:
The hand could be anybody’s. Anybody male.
