Il progetto Grey prende spunto da una tela di Paul Delaroche , l'Esecuzione di Lady
Grey - che si trova presso la National Gallery di Londra. Il tema, dunque, verterà sulla
pena di morte. Ho immaginato che la tela si trovi sul palcoscenico di un teatro. In
platea vi sono quindici poltrone. Su ciascuna poltrona siederà uno spettatore. Lo
spettatore giungerà a teatro la mattina di buon ora per assistere alla decapitazione.
Che sia d'accordo o meno, sa che il suo impegno inderogabile è essere lì a quell'ora.
Durante la notte, però, pur non dimenticando l'impegno del giorno dopo, vivrà la sua
vita come fa normalmente o come evento eccezionale. In ogni modo compirà le sue
azioni: mangerà? Dormirà? Andrà al pub? Farà una corsa in macchina? A ciascun artista è stato affiancato uno studente in qualità di tutor. Il progetto è iniziato ai primi di Aprile con la preparazione delle pagine d’apertura sul web per una durata di tre mesi (inteso sempre come work in progress). Gli spettatori della rete possono intervenire sul tema della pena di morte attraverso forms o liberamente con commenti e suggerimenti. Manuela Corti |
Project Grey is inspired by a painting by Paul Delaroche. The Execution of Lady Grey, in the London National Gallery. The subject, therefore, will be the death penalty. I imagined that the painting is on the stage in a theater. There are fifteen seats for the audience, one to a spectator. The spectators will arrive to the theater early in the morning to witness the beheading. Whether they agree or not, they know that it is a binding commitment to be there at the stated time. The previous night, though not forgetting the following day's commitment, they will lead their life either normally, or as an exceptional event. In any case, they will perform some actions: will they eat? Sleep? Will they go to the corner pub? Will they go for a car ride? I will assign a student, for each artist of the project, as tutor. The project started at the beginning of April with the preparation of the opening pages on the web, and will last three months (always considering it a work in progress). . Manuela Corti |
