According to technical experts, the first to get scattered was the head: the Carbon 14 and Cesium 60 tests barred all objections. According to the experts, in addition (but these are metaphysical clues) Relena didn’t see anything other than the barrel’s hole. The barrel, that is, had hidden itself behind the hole. And for all Relena’s efforts, the hole had made just as many efforts to camouflage the terrible shape that made it lethal.
Then there were the shots (nine, according to all witnesses. Without counting the geese, who got goose bumps).
(It seems like each shot exacted eighteen pounds of flesh – including blood. While the caustic soda ate at the pounds’ border and the air carried away the singed smell, supporting patchworked fabrics like enthusiastic poor peoples’ kites).
