Project Passages (1997–1998)

An international net-art project initiated by Manuela Corti, based on the novel Antropoeccentrico (1998) by Gianni Actis-Barone.

In 1997, artist Manuela Corti initiated Project Passages, a web-based art project developed in dialogue with Gianni Actis-Barone’s novel Antropoeccentrico.

Over 23 consecutive weeks, and with the collaboration of 22 artists from different countries, the project presented four net-art works per week, each corresponding to a passage from the novel.

The works produced within the project were later exhibited at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome (1998), as part of the exhibition La Coscienza Luccicante. From Video Art to Interactive Art, curated by Paola Barbara Sega and Maria Grazia Tolomeo.

The project received critical attention at the time, including reviews and academic references. A dedicated restoration of the original Passages website (archival links and documentation) will be prepared in a future update.
